I am stoked to announce Cozy launched today, and we're now available to anyone in the United States. In our six month beta period we have grown quickly, and are already being used by thousands of renters and landlords in over 320 U.S. markets. For those of you not yet familiar with Cozy, we're a service for both landlords and renters, and we are revolutionizing one of the oldest things in human civilization: the landlord-tenant relationship. Through elegant design, modern technology and world class customer support, we're turning an old broken system on its head.
What's our focus?
Our mission is to radically change the rental experience with a focus on beautifully designed products, transparency, privacy, and total control of one's personal information. We're solving the pain points for both landlords and renters from the very first interaction. We're methodically achieving this goal by squashing the Big Pain Points first.
Pain points for landlords
Landlords waste the most time and money on two things: finding/screening great tenants and chasing down rent checks. Cozy makes it super easy to accept applications and quickly screen tenants, and we make it simple to collect rent automatically on a recurring basis.
Pain points for renters
We talk to thousands of renters and constantly hear them say, "I used to write twelve checks a year." Cozy's first of its kind payments system makes paying rent a snap, even if there are multiple roommates in a household. No more paper checks. No more late rent.
The other big problem we're solving for renters is the miserable experience of filling out a giant paper application with one's most sensitive information and then handing it to a complete stranger along with an "application fee." It's high time renters took control of their private information, and it's time to end application fees. Cozy Renter Profiles and Guest passes are our first step toward empowering renters to always maintain control of their sensitive information. And there is no notion of any sort of application fee with Cozy.
We've worked hand in hand with our beta customers since before we designed a single screen, and we wouldn't be here without them. Our customers mean everything to us, and that will never change. As a service we are going to be rolling out more groundbreaking tools for both landlords and renters, focusing on mobile extensions of the service, and continuing to break down the old brittle walls of this system that is long overdue for an overhaul. The next few years are going to be fun!
